The Gulf Islands, across the strait, at Thrasher rock has been smoking most days with double digit fish getting hit. The weather is supposed to be calm and sunny all week so now is the time to book.

The fishing for Pink Salmon in Howe Sound has remained unstable. One day appears successful and the next day is potentially a bit slower than normal. They still have not arrived in huge numbers yet, although every day is more promising, with increasing numbers of schools fining about. One of the main problems off of Potlatch is the numerous seals that we have encountered. It appears as though the schools that tend to come into the shallows are being scared off by these predators. Without a doubt, the best fishing is when the seals do not seem to be around. A few days ago, the Gulf Islands produced another Halibut off of Thrasher Rock. This is great news, and hopefully it continues! Some well sized Springs, the biggest one weighing 35lbs, have been caught off of the Fraser River from T10 down to the South Arm. The West Van shoreline has picked up within the last few days with regards to the Spring, Coho, and Pink Salmon. The most action and success seems to be on the flood tide where Springs into the low thirties have been caught, however most averaging into the high teens. It is great to see that fishing is continuing to improve everywhere. We still look forward to the main run of Pinks still to come in the near future. As per usual, the crabbing remains fabulous! Vancouver Salmon Fishing is continuing to get better after weeks of being slow. The West Van shoreline is producing Pinks, Coho, Springs and evan getting an odd Sockeye. The Pinks and Sockeye have started to show up in the last week. The start of over 20 million returning to the Vancouver area and the river systems. Howe Sound the start off the Squamish Pinks have started to show up not in huge numbers yet but by August Howe Sound will be stacked with them. The Gulf Islands are still producing some very nice Springs and surprisingly a few more Halibut were hit this week. Things look great for August and September. Crabbing remains great, lots of big dungeness crab nothing like a crab and salmon barbeque after a day on the water. August is filling up book now for a great day on the water Vancouver Salmon Fishing.
After that bad weather a few days ago that brought all that rain things have seemed to have settled down to sunny with a few clouds. The West van shoreline there’re are a few nice Coho getting caught with a Spring salmon mixed in there. The Capilano River is back down to a trickle after that rain which is great the fish will start to stack up on the West van shoreline again every flood tide a few more should arrive. T10 and South a few nice Springs got caught this morning with a few Jack Springs mixed in. Howe Sound looks good again with one boat this morning getting a 31lb, 22lb and a few Jack Springs all on the West side of Bowen island. Hole in the Wall right outside Horeshoe Bay a few nice Springs have been taken the last few days with a 25lb being the biggest i’ve herd of. Up Howe sound Defence islands has produced some nice Springs so it looks like the Squamish fish have started to come into Howe Sound making there way up. The Gulf islands with the water being abit rough the last few days not many people have been fishing them the water should calm down in the next few days and people will be heading back over there. The crabbing has been great as usual with lots of bid Dungeness crab.
Today was the first not so good day in quite some time. It rained real hard on wednesday and the weather is changing back to sun so it’s not surprising it was slow everywhere today. The Gulf islands were slow but with the weather changing back to steady sun should be back in the next few days when the weather settles down. I was on the West van shoreline today in English Bay and it was very slow. A few nice Coho were taken in the early morning and that’s about all i herd. I fished in the afternoon and i did not hear or see a fish caught but with that rain those fish check the river out when it dries up in the next day or to the fish will start to stack up again it will just take a day or so. The Dungeness crabbing is still great 17 legal crab out of one trap yesterday. Big North west supposed to blow tomorrow should bring the sun back and should evan blow some Coho back to the West van shorline.
