We have had a great couple weeks of charters in Vancouver. We were fishing in english Bay for Coho and the odd Spring till a week ago and now have been off the Fraser river going after the Sockeye salmon with an odd Spring salmon mixed in. We have a few days open in August still and a few more days in September. This sockeye run should keep going into the first week of August and we will switch over to our West van fishery for the great Coho and Spring run in mid September to early October. We also get a great run of Springs and Coho off the Fraser river which we key on on full day charters. Give us a call and book a trip or ask any questions you would like to have answered. If you are trying to go get them yourself give me a shout and i will help you out anyway i can. The Sockeye have been hitting on Gibbsdelta flashers with Yamashita hootchies the springs like them to. If just keying on Coho and Springs i have been mainly using Watermark Gibbsdelta flashers with rhys davis heads and anchovies. Good luck look forward to talking to you.

Nice limit of Spring Salmon (King Salmon) and hatchery coho (Silver Salmon). Great morning

Happy Charter Customer from Texas

Cruising home on the Watermark after a great evening fishing charter

The lineup that has worked this week.

Summer in Vancouver has arrived and we’ve had some great fishing charters in the past week! The Coho (Silver salmon) have shown up earlier than normal and in big numbers in the waters around Vancouver including: Bowen Island, English Bay, Strait of Georgia and Howe Sound. We’ve also had some nice Spring salmon (King salmon) mixed in which has resulted in days full of action! We have mainly been fishing the South/South West part of Bowen Island when calm winds allow. On windy days we’ve been looking for the Spring salmon (King salmon) close to Horseshoe Bay at Hole in the Wall (towards Lions Bay). It’s a great time of year to book one of our 5 or 8 hour charters. We recommend an 8 hour to enable us to fish a whole tide.
For those of you wanting to give it a try on your own, we have been using Gibbsdelta tackle: mainly the Watermark flashers with a white, green or red blade or a chartreuse glow flasher. Rhys Davis heads with smaller anchovies seem to be working great for both variety of salmon, Springs or Coho. We’ve also been using a few different Yamashita little squirt hootchies for the Coho (picture attached of gear). This fishing should continue to be great with all the bait (anchovy schools) around. Looking toward August, the success should continue until we hopefully get a chance to fish for some Sockeye off the Fraser River. If that fishery doesn’t open, we are still in great shape with the Capilano Coho and the Springs returning to our rivers.
Feel free to call to book a charter or if you’re trying for yourself, ask a few questions. I’ll help any way I can. Until next time good luck let’s get out and enjoy a day.

Beautiful Spring Salmon (King Salmon) to start the morning off.

Having a break waiting for the next hit.

Two nice Springs (King Salmon) to start the day before the Coho showed up.

The fishing has picked up quite abit in the last few days around vancouver. In the last few days there have been some fish caught in English Bay, the Bell Buoy, the South end of Bowen, and Grace island. Hopefully the last few days is the start of our Spring fishery. English bay off the Capilano to the Dundarave peir on the flood has produced a few nice Spring from being just undersize to the mid teens. The Bell Buoy there were a few more smaller undersize fish with a few legal fish in the 8 to 14lb range. In Howe Sound at Grace island a boat had a few good hours there losing a nice fish getting a nice fish and two undersize fish also. The South end of Bowen island it seems the better luck has been a mile or two off Cowans to Roger Curtis. The fish here have ranged in size from just legal to about 15lbs with one boat yesterday getting three legal and losing two other good ones in a short time. The Gulf islands seem to have picked up abit also so everything seems to have started. This is the time of year we go out one day and we get busy it seems to be heading that way it usually happens in mid April. If you have any questions feel free to call and you’ll get an honest answer have a great day.

Well Spring time seems to be here. Fishing this winter was decent one day then slow the next day. There wasn’t that much feed around this winter if you found feed you usually picked up a few nice winter Springs. The Crabbing and Prawning this winter has been nothing short of amazing this should continue for both till the comercial prawning starts usually some time in June. This is the time of year in Vancouver we start to get a good number of Spring salmon showing up in the Straight of Georgia, Off the Fraser River, in Howe Sound, and for full day trips the Gulf Islands. The Herring have moved into the Straight to spawn in good numbers and the Spring salmon are usually not far behind. In the last week or so there have been a few Springs caught off Point Grey to the North Arm mostly just undersize with a few nice ones mixed in. The West side of Bowen seem to have bigger fish with some nice fish getting caught at Hutt Island, 3rd Marker, and Tunstall Bay. The South end of Bowen island starts to heat up at the end of March and goes till May. The crabbing in Howe Sound remains great all year round there’s no commercial fishery for them at any time in this area. This is the time of year everybody puts there boats back in the water and the marinas turn from ghost towns to full of boaters. They’ll be alot more people out fishing in the next few weeks so we’ll get a lot better idea of where the fish are and what they’re eating better having 100 boats spread out everywhere fishing to 10 or so boats fishing in the winter. Till next time good luck and if you have any questions email me and i’ll be glad to help you out the best i can. Should be a great year lets all hope the summer was as nice as the winter.

Another couple days on the water with mixed results. Thursday we headed up Howe Sound in the morning and fished for Pinks. We ended up with 3 Pinks had a few more hits and lost 4 or 5. When we arrived the Pinks were schooling around we got a couple right away and then the seal moved in took one off our line and scattered the schools and they never came back. Not a bad morning but could off been alot better if the seals had not bothered us. The morning in English bay on the West Van shoreline was very slow. A few boats moved over to the Bell Buoy later in the morning and caught some Sockeye that had to be released, a few Pinks and a couple boats got a Spring. The afternoon we headed down to the West Van shoreline to fish the flood tide that had produced the last few days. The fishing was very slow I saw one boat get a small Coho or Pink. Later in the evening a few Springs got hit at the Bell Buoy a friend of mine got a 15 and 20lb right near the high slack. This morning was a different story quite a few boats at the Bell Buoy did well with a few boats getting 4 or 5 Springs all high teens to mid twenty’s. We went up Howe Sound again this morning and it was the complete difference from the morning before. We limited out on Pinks in a very short time and realeased 28 over the next couple hours and lost a bunch more. A great day on the water all around Vancouver. Crabbing remains great with alot of 7 inch Dungeness crab.

Fishing was alot better today with Sockeye, Pink, Coho, and some Springs showing up on the West Van shoreline. On the flood this morning quite a few fish were taken from the Pink apartment down to the marker off the Capilano River. There also later in the day a few Pinkis were taken off the Fishery Station. In the last couple days these fish have moved in this is what we’ve been waiting for the last couple weeks it should get better every day. The Gulf islands The Grande and Thrasher rock some good fishing for Springs continues when the water lets us get over to that side. Howe Sound a few Pinks have shown up any day now we should get a big push off them up the Sound to the Defense Islands, and Furry Creek area. Things are looking very positive for the next month for Coho, Pink and Sockeye with a few Springs mixed in. Crabbing remains very good with lots off big dungeness crab. Until next time good luck

Nice calm day on the water around the Vancouver area today. The Gulf islands produced some nice Springs they were hitting near the high slack in the morning. Seems like there’re a few more schools of Coho in English Bay on the West Van shoreline and a few nice Springs. Fishing has perked up abit in the last few days everywhere lets hope the rain stays away. August is booking up pretty quick with the antisapation of the big return of the Pink and Sockeye salmon book now.

The weather finally sounds like it’s going to stop raining and dry out. The Gulf islands fishing has been good one day spotty the next. Fishing the Grande dragging bottom has been producing there also have been 3 or 4 halibut caught in the last 2 weeks in the Gulf islands. T10 south has been producing one here one there but with the water and weather changing should start to get back to where it was a couple weeks ago. The West van shoreline is still producing a Coho here and there and a few undersize Springs with the odd legal Spring. This area should get better after a few days of no rain and the fish will start to stack up again. Howe Sound has started to produce some nice Springs Hole in the Wall has produced some nice Springs up to 30lbs with a few Jack Springs mixed in. Other places that has produced fish in Howe Sound Salmon Rock, West side of Bowen, and Grace Islands and the Hole in the Wall area up past Sunset marina. Sounds like the weather is going to be sunny with no rain so things should look better in a few days. Only a couple more weeks till the Pink salmon hit Howe sound.

Well finally after a week of North west wind it has died down abit can’t remember the last time it blew for a week. Boats could finally fish the West van shoreline again. There were a few schools of Coho down there and an odd Spring hopefully it calms down and the fishing will get back to how it was a couple weeks ago. There still are fish in the Gulf Islands off Thrasher and the Grande but the water has not let anybody fish over there except the few that are docked in Silver Bay. In Howe Sound a few nice Springs have been caught at Hole In the wall, and off Sunset marina with a few Jack Springs also which are just undersize mature Spring salmon. The West side off Bowen island has produced some real nice Springs in the last week again the North West hits there so limited time fishing there so if it stays calm we will get a good read on all these spots in the next day or so. Crabbing is still great and should stay that way.

After that bad weather a few days ago that brought all that rain things have seemed to have settled down to sunny with a few clouds. The West van shoreline there’re are a few nice Coho getting caught with a Spring salmon mixed in there. The Capilano River is back down to a trickle after that rain which is great the fish will start to stack up on the West van shoreline again every flood tide a few more should arrive. T10 and South a few nice Springs got caught this morning with a few Jack Springs mixed in. Howe Sound looks good again with one boat this morning getting a 31lb, 22lb and a few Jack Springs all on the West side of Bowen island. Hole in the Wall right outside Horeshoe Bay a few nice Springs have been taken the last few days with a 25lb being the biggest i’ve herd of. Up Howe sound Defence islands has produced some nice Springs so it looks like the Squamish fish have started to come into Howe Sound making there way up. The Gulf islands with the water being abit rough the last few days not many people have been fishing them the water should calm down in the next few days and people will be heading back over there. The crabbing has been great as usual with lots of bid Dungeness crab.

Today was the first not so good day in quite some time. It rained real hard on wednesday and the weather is changing back to sun so it’s not surprising it was slow everywhere today. The Gulf islands were slow but with the weather changing back to steady sun should be back in the next few days when the weather settles down. I was on the West van shoreline today in English Bay and it was very slow. A few nice Coho were taken in the early morning and that’s about all i herd. I fished in the afternoon and i did not hear or see a fish caught but with that rain those fish check the river out when it dries up in the next day or to the fish will start to stack up again it will just take a day or so. The Dungeness crabbing is still great 17 legal crab out of one trap yesterday. Big North west supposed to blow tomorrow should bring the sun back and should evan blow some Coho back to the West van shorline.

Still great weather and the fishing has just got better. The Gulf islands are still good off of Thrasher and Five fingers. Howe Sound there have been a few Springs taken off Salmon Rock. The West van shoreline has been quite good for Coho and there’re a few Springs mixed in. T10 which is off the airport and the middle arm of the Fraser river has been producing Springs with some days being very good. Things are looking up, things should keep getting better especially the West Van shoreline if it does not rain. The Capilano River is very low right now and the fish really can’t get up the river and should continue to stack up
