June 18 Salmon Fishing Report From Vancouver BC

By June 18, 2014 Uncategorized 4 Comments

It’s time for another Vancouver fishing report. In the last week or so there have been some good results.

The Gulf islands remains strong most days at Thrasher rock, the Grande, and Entrance island. On the ebb tide fishing Thrasher seems to be the call on hootchies and spoons ( Silver Horde, Gibbs Gypsy). On the flood seems to be at the Grande as it usually is using the same gear. This is a charter that’s great to do on a full day charter and if you’d like we can go into Silva bay for lunch. At the derby last weekend the winning Spring salmon was just over 31lbs ‎. This fishery will continue into July.

Howe sound has produced more in the last week. There has been some good days at Salmon rock and Gower point trolling in 120ft or water using bait. This is a good charter to do on a 6hr.

Also in Howe sound fish have been caught at Grace and at Defense island. These spots can produce into July also ‎and bait and spoons are a good bet. These are also good for 6hr charters.

Hole in the wall has brown river water still there and it usually picks up when that clears. There were some nice fish hit before the dirty river water moved in. Closer to July is when we start to fish there and throughout July. ‎Good for a 5hr charter.

The Bell Buoy to the QA has produced some nice Springs in the last week‎ and nearer to point atkinson some Coho have been caught. With there being Coho in the Capilano river Pt Atkinson to Ambleside should be a good bet to get some early Coho with a good chance of a Spring. Also good for 5hr charters and up.

The Dungeness crabbing remains very good in Howe sound which is a great way to end the charter. This should continue for the summer. If you have any questions feel free to call and I will answer them and help you out any way I can. Until next time good luck.
