Another week of salmon fishing charters in the Vancouver area has flown by with mostly great results.
The local fishing has been spotty with a good day followed by a slow day. The places that have produced the most salmon, are the hump off the South end of Bowen. There have also been a few good results off of point Atkinson towards the Bell buoy. A typical day locally has been 4 to 8 hits but the slow days 1 to 4 hits. The main tackle that has been working is Gibbs Highliner flashers with bait. This is a great charter to do on a 5 or 6hour trip.
The Gulf Islands, across the strait, at Thrasher rock has been smoking most days with double digit fish getting hit. The weather is supposed to be calm and sunny all week so now is the time to book. We were over in the Gulf Islands Friday and Saturday, and came home with our limits both days and released a bunch of undersize and legal fish to. Our largest fish was 24lbs and several others in the teens and a lot right around the legal size limit.
We are getting most of our action between 80 to 120ft on hootchies behind a couple different Gibbs Highliner flashers chartreuse glow, and white glow with cracked UV. This fishery should continue for the next month or so. To do this (to the Gulf Islands) charter we would have to do a full day charter but it’s well worth it with how it’s been. To book give us a call and we will get you out there for the best tide and answer any questions you have.
The crabbing remains very good a great way to end the day after a day of salmon fishing with a bunch of crab. Until next time good luck if you have any questions about anything else feel free to call @ +1 604-816-8944 or like watermark fishing charters on facebook and you will get daily reports on what’s happening.
Look forward to hearing from you Mark.
