Vancouver salmon fishing report June 13th 2013

The last few weeks of fishing in Vancouver have shown some mixed results. The local fishery has dropped off quite a bit with the odd nice Spring getting caught in Howe sound and on the West Van shoreline. The Capilano river is full of Coho salmon but with the river so high the fish are going straight up the river. We need a week of dry weather and those fish will start to stack up on the West van shoreline and the fishing will get very good quickly if this happens.  For local fishing right now we recommend 5 or 6hr charter it’s a great day on the water to see some of the sights around Vancouver.

The Gulf islands around the Gabriolla island remains very good. A lot of Springs are getting taken in shore or offshore, the surprising thing is some days there are a ton of Coho salmon mixed in with the Springs. This should continue for quite a while still we are mainly still catching fish on Silver Horde spoons with Gibbs Highliner flashers.  For fishing the Gulf islands full day charters are needed please feel free to call and ask questions about any of our trips and it’s a great time to book for trips later in the summer before the best tides and days are booked.

The crabbing has dropped off a bit but is still pretty good and the prawning remains very good.  The commercial prawning is nearly over so prawning should just get better from here on in.  Until next time good luck from Watermark

I also wanted to share a friends catch today.. A nice 40lb halibut caught by Oli on ‘Hooked Up’ at Thrasher while fishing for Springs.
