The last week on the Vancouver fishing charter scene has improved a lot.

In the middle of Georgia straight flat calm and sunny a beautiful day on the water for a charter
In the last week the South end of Bowen island has picked up. Most days were calm this week and the most productive area seems to be around the hump. Most fish seem to be in the 12 to 15lb range but some real nice ones in the high teens and low twenties have been caught with the biggest and proven fish weighed just over 30lbs. There seems to be very few undersize Spring salmon so when a rod pops off its usually a good one and we seem to be getting them between 70 and 140ft.

Another nice Spring salmon off the south end of Bowen island. Gibbs highliner flashers with herring or chovs
In Howe sound some nice Springs have been caught. The 2 days that were rough off the South end of Bowen island this week some nice fish were caught in Seymour bay and grace islands. With some of the fish that are off the south end of Bowen island probably heading into Howe sound Hole in the wall, Defence Islands, Hutt island are a very good bets especially if the South end of Bowen island is rough.

Undersized Spring – South end of Bowen Island
The Gulf islands have picked up also in the last week especially up at 5 Fingers just outside of Naniamo. A few fish have been caught at Thrasher but not many people have fished there at all and with fish off the South end of Bowen and some people getting fish 8 miles off its hard to think that they’re not there at Thrasher offshore or right in at the rock.
We seem to be doing very good for Dungeness crab and prawns still in Howe sound and it should continue. It’s a great time to book a charter for a chance at a bunch of nice Spring salmon and to get a feast of crab and prawns for the barbecue. If you have any questions feel free to call and ask I will help you out any way I can and point you in the right direction. Until next time Watermark fishing charters wish you the best.

A nice way to end a day with a few dungeness crab after a good day of salmon fishing in Vancouver
