With the nice weather in Vancouver over the last few days a bunch of people got out and enjoyed the Vancouver salmon fishing. We were out on Saturday for a charter and since we were picking our people up from West bay on Gambier island we fished over there. We started at 3rd Marker on the west side of Bowen island we only did a couple passes had an anchovie that got chewed up and that’s it. We headed over to Grace on the SW tip of Gambier island we did couple passes there and got a 12 or 13lb nice Spring salmon. We stopped fishing after that quick charter; but the customers had what they came for, a fresh Vancouver Spring salmon and a 12 crab for a feast that night at there cabin. We got our fish on a Gibbs highliner flasher with an anchovie our fish was full of herring.
With the nice weather this past weekend there were quite a few fish caught. English bay produced some nice Springs on the flood tide closer to the Capilano and on the Ebb tide more on the Jericho side of English bay amongst the freighters. There were Spring salmon also caught on the West side of Bowen island at Tunstal, 3rd marker, and Hutt island. There were also a few boats that went and tried there luck off the South end of Bowen island and there was some undersized that we’re caught. Most fish caught were on a mixture of spoons (Silver horde, Gibbs), or anchovies behind a Gibbs highliner flasher. The prawning and Dungeness crabbing in Howe sound remains very good.
It’s this time of year that the fishing picks up in the Vancouver fishing charters scene as the weather warms up and the sun starts to shine. To book a fishing charter or if you have any questions give us a call come enjoy a day on the waters of Vancouver BC on the 31ft Pursuit Watermark
